I am a Behavioral Assistant, but also a student enrolled in the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work’s Masters Program. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism with minors in Child Psychology from Rutgers University. My entry to social work is coming later in life as a second career. However, I have always been interested in personal growth, positivity, a deeper understanding of the human condition, and how to move through adversity with grace, humor and kindness. My experiences with infertility, adoption, ADHD, and trauma, added to the years I spent working with the public in my first career have yielded a variety of experiences with all kinds of people and deepened my empathy for the difficulties today’s children and families face. I am especially interested in the Nurtured Heart Approach and how mindfulness and positivity can facilitate a more fulfilling life for tomorrow’s children.

As a student intern, I will be providing face-to-face interventions, supportive counseling, and behavioral modification strategies for children and adolescents. I’m currently in the process of completing the New Jersey Children’s System of Care Behavioral Assistant Training Certification. I am looking forward to becoming a certified trainer in The Nurtured Heart Approach. For the agency I would like to work with families and children struggling to stabilize under unique circumstances such as adoption, ADHD, and behavioral issues. After completing my Masters in Social Work, I plan to obtain my LCSW and work with children and families in the adoption community in need of advocacy and guidance.
