I am excited to begin working with the Sherry Blair Institute for Inspirational Change as a behavioral assistant! I work with children and families in Union, Essex, and Morris Counties. I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology (School Counseling Certification) from Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Music from Saint Olaf College. I am a New Jersey Certified School Counselor; however, I also plan to become a licensed professional counselor so I can practice as a counselor for children outside of school settings. I have worked with children for more than 10 years in a variety of roles – as a school counselor, youth counselor, early childhood teacher, violin instructor, childcare provider, and camp counselor. As a school counselor and youth counselor, I have worked with children with emotional and behavioral challenges, aged 5 to 14. I am receiving training in the Nurtured Heart Approach, which I look forward to using with the youth in my care. I also use cognitive behavioral strategies when helping children with emotional and behavioral concerns. My goal in working with the children I serve is to help them further their positive behaviors, develop healthy self-esteem, and develop more satisfying relationships with the people in their lives.
